The Core Concept
Before the NumbersBefore assigning any stats, think about who your character is. A hardened corporate soldier weary of the Rain Wars? A cynical Waster who trusts their rifle more than people? A disgraced heir looking for revenge? This core concept anchors every choice that follows.
Step 2 of 7
Choose an Origin
Where You Come FromYour Origin defines your relationship with the Wake's major powers, your starting equipment bonus, and how the world perceives you.
Standard Origins
Advanced Origins — Require Facilitator Approval
Step 3 of 7
Choose a Role
Your Function in the SquadYour Role determines your primary attribute, your Tactical Niche in miniatures play, and your starting equipment package.
Step 4 of 7
Allocate Attributes & Skills
The Attribute PoolRoll 1d4 and add 10. The total (11–14) is your private pool. No public attribute may be lower than 2 or higher than 5. Reserve some points privately for THREADLOCK — you will assign them in Step 7.
Your rolled pool total:
Points allocated to public attributes:
9
Remaining (reserved for THREADLOCK):
3
THREADLOCK cannot be below 2. Reduce public attributes to reserve at least 2 points.

Miniatures Unit Profile Inputs
For Miniatures PlayThese values appear on your Unit Profile card. Armor Tier sets your Resilience. Primary Weapon Damage is used for Requisition Value calculation. All other miniatures stats are derived automatically from your attributes.
Step 7 of 7 (Part A)
Scar & Insight Initiation
Your Starting SecretEvery character begins Deadwake with a private inner world. Work with your Facilitator to choose one of the following. This is the first entry in your private log.
Secret Allegiance
You are a quiet sympathizer for a faction or cause that your crew does not know about. Perhaps the Null Guard. Perhaps something older.
Haunting Failure
A past mistake defines you. It is your first Scar, and processing it will yield your first Insight.
+1 Starting Insight
Driving Ambition
There is something you want more than anything. Your crew may share your methods, but they do not know your real goal.
Step 7 of 7 (Part B)
Define Your THREADLOCK
This step is private. Your THREADLOCK score and everything on this screen is known only to you and the Facilitator. This is the Pact of Silence.
The Pact of SilenceTHREADLOCK is the measure of your cognitive and psychological resilience — the strength of the threads holding your consciousness together against the Static. Your Cohesion (mental hit points) equals THREADLOCK × 2. Your Cognitive Exposure Threshold (CET) begins at 0.
Private Attribute — THREADLOCK
Record this privately. Never reveal it to other players.

If your Advanced Origin is "Fish," your THREADLOCK is capped at 3. For the Gen-hanced origin, apply your +1 bonus to your chosen public attribute now if you have not already.
